Raised outdoors in the spring, summer and fall these birds get the ultimate holistic lifestyle.

All the poultry is raised in safe small portable pens that get moved around the yard every day. There are 50 birds in each pen. This is a perfect number to have the flock feel safe and comfortable in their surroundings and keep enough space around them to let them spread their wings and fly a little.

At Harborside Farms the idea of mowing lawn with a gas powered lawn mower is absurd when there are plenty of animals around like the chickens to do this job for us. The birds love the rich grass to eat as well as lay in because of how cool it feels nestled down that close to the earth.

The birds get moved every day in order to ensure that they have fresh grass to go to and new ground to cover. They seem to make quick work of the area they are in and need to have a fresh plot daily. Moving them every day as a family is what Harborside Farms does.

By being out there every day and looking at the area the birds are in, we can determine what the needs of the birds are a lot quicker than if they were locked up in a barn with thousands of other chickens surrounding them.

You can buy poultry from Harborside Farms by the piece, half or whole. Most times the birds weigh 5 to 9lbs. The chickens range in size because we are raising the animals naturally. They grow slowly in their own way, no force feeding just natural growth.
